(We) in the west place the rights of an individual above all else - so much so that many states & nations have the fact enshrined as an overarching law.
Others peoples place the rights and demands of their religion above all else, even life itself, and are as intransigent in that stance as the west is in it's.
However, there is NO - I'll say it again, NO - method of providing some sort of line linking the two non-negotiable views, then identifying a point along that line as being an "acceptable" or "agreeable" compromise to both sides. You don't believe me? Try it.
Draw a line on a piece of paper. Mark one end as "the individual rules", and the other as "religion rules". Pick a point ANYWHERE on that line and explain what it actually represents and why those who identify themselves at either end will be able to accept both it and their immutable views/beliefs.
